About

Ok, so  here’s the story… (From Angie’s perspective….)

I work now at a church in suburban Indianapolis. Preston and I have all kinds of crazy dreams of living in interesting places…some place where Preston can pursue his writing and I can move towards vague notions of a career in child advocacy. We haven’t really tried to make anything happen because we’re really happy here. We were just waiting.

BUT one day Dave, the pastor here at Grace, got a call from his pastor-friend in Australia asking if Dave could recommend anyone for a Children’s Director position. Long story short, Dave had some conversations, Preston and I were asked to consider, and an interview was set up.

So we interviewed (a long and enjoyable conversation with the Australia church’s pastor, John Gray and associate pastor, Ian Barnett) over coffee, waited a long week, and accepted the position with St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Sydney. It’s a temporary position – probably 2 years – so we’ll be back! Yay! Preston will spend the 2 years developing himself as a writer, pulling together a portfolio for what will eventually be his freelance career.

We’ve been provided a charming little home that’s called a “granny flat.” It’s like a guest house – I guess a lot of people in Australia have these. We’ve also been provided a car…not sure about driving on the other side of the road, but I’m exicted to see the toilet flush the “wrong” way! The people at the church have been incredibly kind – we already have a handful of dinner invites. Here’s the address for the church’s website if you’re curious: http://www.stpaulscastlehill.org.au/
